Sooo-finally back...Thank you so much for e-mails and comments:-)
Life's been busy...but the needles are being used every day, sewing, knitting, embroidering or crocheting. I went home in April to pick up the car that needed a new transmission (it broke down when we went home for dad's funeral), the boys and I went to my niece's confirmation in May, my mother-in-law and I went to Oslo a couple of days in May for her sister's 95th birthday, DD1 graduated from 10th grade, hubby is still in China, DS1 is still on a gastanker, DS2 is taking driving lessons, DD2 does well in school- only two more years! It is summer holiday, I'm varnishing all the floors in the house, so we've been living in the sea house for a few days, (and now it's clean!!!) It's been a long, cold Spring. We had high hopes today- the sun was out and we had nearly 18 deegrees Celsius! Now it's pouring down again...

Endelig tilbake...tusen takk for e-poster og kommentarer!
Det har vært noen travle måneder...men pinner og nåler er stadig i bruk, enten det nå er strikking, hekling, broderi eller symaskinsøm!
Jeg va hjemme i april for å hente bilen med ny girkasse- den stoppet i romjula da vi var hjemme i pappas begravelse! Guttene og jeg var til Ryfylke i konfirmasjon i slutten av mai, svigermor og jeg var i Oslo i begynnelsen av mai, for da fylte søsteren hennes 95 år! Datter #1(men barn #3) ble ferdig med 10.klasse, fra høsten av er det skoleskipet Gann som gjelder:-)Gubben er fortsatt i Kina, eldsten er fortsatt lærling på en gasstanker, #2 håper på sertifikat til høsten, yngstejenta gjør det bra på skolen-bare to år igjen nå! Det er skoleferie, jeg lakker golv, og vi har bodd noen dager på sjøbuda (og nå er det reint der også!) Det har vært en lang og kald vår. Vi trodde sommeren kom idag, det var jo bortimot 18 grader her! Men nå regner det igjen...

....slowly back to normal...

First of all-THANK YOU for all your kind words and warm condolences! I really appreciate it, and I know one of my sisters read my blog and was also touched by it. I'm still tired, but we are slowly getting back to normal around here. The kids are back in school, the sheep need feeding, hubby is in China, so "business as usual"!

Oh, and that poem my sister had found? The first part of it is part of  a song by Torolf Nordbø, he is singing another song here, which is also beautiful.

Først og fremst- TUSEN TAKK for alle hilsener og kondolanser, det varmet i en tung tid. Den ene søsteren min har også kommentert, hun satte også pris på det. Ja, den første delen av det diktet jeg leste, er skrevet av Torolf Nordbø, her i duett med Rita Eriksen. Jeg fant ikke akkurat "plassen står tome", men han har gitt den ut på CD nokså nylig. Bare så det er oppklart.

Vi begynner å komme tilbake til normalen, men jeg er fortsatt stuptrøtt. Ungene har begynt på skolen igjen, sauene må ha mat, og gubben er i Kina.



We've had a long winter here already, it's been rather cold and snowy. I bought iceskates for the kids earlier this fall, but we haven't been off skating yet- I'm actually not sure where there is safe ice! But the girls knew what to do...the place outside the house is covered in ice, so they went skating there! And yes, that is DD1 in shorts...


Vi har allerede hatt en lang vinter, med kulde og snø. Ungene fikk skøyter i høst, men jeg vet ikke om gode skøytevann her...men de visste råd! Tunet har jo vært glasert, så de satte på seg skøytene og gikk rundt rundkjøringa! Og ja, 15-åringen går i shorts...







 We've had a few beautiful days too- so another of the usual view;-)
Vi har hatt mange flotte dager også...begynner dere å bli lei av utsikten?

 Yesterday DS1 took the motorsaw and started taking down trees for firewood next winter. This morning we had 6 deer eating off the branches! When DS2 came home at 3:30pm, 13 deer was there! This is only 100 meters from the house- only 30 meters from the road- but they obviously know that huntingseason is over! DD2 went to take some photos. Beautiful animals. They get so close now because we have all the sheep inside, and because it is harder to find enough food when the ground is so frozen and covered in snow.

Igår begynte eldsten på vinterveden. Og idag morges gikk det 6 hjorter og beitet på kvister og knopper! Da #2 kom hjem i halv4-tida, gikk det 13 dyr der! Dette er bare 100 meter ovenfor huset vårt, knapt 30 meter fra hovedveien, men de vet tydeligvis at jaktsesongen er over! #3 tok med seg kameraet sitt og tok noen bilder. Flotte dyr! De kommer vel ned nå fordi sauene går inne, og fordi marka er frosset og dekket av snø.

 

 But there has been knitting too...I went home to my mum's for a week in Nov/Dec, when dad was in hospital, and I took the bus both ways. 10 hours to Oslo, another 4 to Lillesand. One pair was knit on the way down, another while I was there- in between hospitalvisits- and the third pair was finished on the bus back home to the westcoast... The purple, blue and grey pair went to my nieces, the red to DD2. DD1 also got a pair, and I've finally made a pair for myself! Mum gave me this blue variegated yarn when we went home for the funeral, and there was enough to make a pair of fingerless mitts too. Pattern? Loksins! I've knitted it several times, but I have big feet, so they've been too small on me. I increased from 60 to 68 stitches, and they fit perfectly. The kids socks are smaller- purple only 54, the others 56 stitches I think. Fun pattern, and easy to memorize. I've done different heels on them- one with a heelflap, one with a shortrow heel, and the rest with a combination. I got a good start on mine when we were on our way home after the funeral...we drove down, but the car decided it had had enough, so it stopped! We got up to my sisters house, but then it wouldn't go any more...turns out the shift system is broken...so we took bus back...16-17 hours with tired teenagers on a full bus...oh joy!

Men jeg har da fått strikket litt også...Jeg var hjemme en uke i manedsskiftet november/desember, mens pappa lå på sykehuset, tok buss begge veier. 10 timer til Oslo, nye 4 til Lillesand...Et par ble strikket på vei ned, et par ble ferdig innimellom sykehusbesøk, og det siste paret ble ferdig på vei opp igjen. Det røde paret ble strikket her hjemme, det var det datteren som fikk, den andre fikk et par i grønt, og det lilla, grå og blå gikk til 3 nieser. Og endelig har jeg fått strikket et par til meg selv! Jeg fikk det blåmelerte garnet av mamma da vi var hjemme i begravelsen- hadde ikke fått med meg nok arbeid...- og da ble det nok til et par pulsvanter også. Mønsteret? _  Loksins! Jeg har strikket det flere ganger, og liker det veldig godt. Men de har alltid blitt for små for meg, så nå økte jeg fra 60 til 68 masker, og de passer perfekt:-)Sokkene til ungene var vel med 54 og 56 masker, hvis jeg ikke husker helt feil, i str. 35, 38 og 39.Jeg har brukt litt forskjellige hæltyper- vanlig hæl på de blå, en med avkorta rader på de lilla, og en kombinasjon på de siste tre parene. Paret til meg begynte jeg på hjemme før vi skulle reise opp igjen...vi kjørte ned til begravelsen, men så gav bilen opp...det viste seg at både girkassa og kardangen er røket. Vi kom heldigvis helt opp på tunet til søsteren min før den gavseg, men det endte med at vi måtte ta bus hjem igjen...16-17 timer med 4 trøtte tenåringer på en stappfull nattbuss...jippi...!

 And finally a pair of ugly mittens. These are for work, so they have to be ugly, otherwise they are "too nice to be used for that kind of work.":-)

Og tilslutt- et par stygge votter. Disse er beregna til jobbevotter, og da må de være stygge, ellers er de "for fine til å brukes til sånt!"

DD2 wants to play a game, so I'd better stop here. It's good to be back- I've missed blogging...

Monstermønstermittens and other woollen winterwarmers!

It's getting colder here, but we have sunny days! Sunny and clear, and of course cold nights. Not quite freezing yet, here at the coast, but cold enough to start using big, warm wool jackets. And cold enough to really appreciate a cup of hot tea;-)

Det er kaldt her, men vi har hatt noen flotte dager med sol! Kaldt og klart, og kjølige netter, men vi har ikke hatt frost her ute ved kysten enda. Men det er godt med ei ulljakke og en kopp varm te mellom hendene!


Look at this lovely yarn! A gift from Mrs.Stashbasket! She made a hamper for her parents golden wedding, and I sent her a couple of things from Norway that had "gull" (gold) in the name. She had a drawing among those who suggested items to put into it, and I won:-) There were some chocolates too...were...

Se på dette flotte garnet! En gave fra Michaela. Hun laget ei svær korg til foreldrenes gullbryllup, med matvarer etc med ordet "gull" i. Jeg sendte henne etpar ting fra Norge, bl.a. gullbrød. Hun hadde en utlodning blant dem som foreslo gjenstander å legge opp i korga, og jeg var en av de heldige vinnerne. Det var litt sjokolade der også...var...

The yarn will be made into something warm for me! Both are from PoshYarn, Helena in orange and Elinor (a sock yarn)in the other. So there will be a pair of socks- any patternsuggestions?

Well, there has been a bit of knitting going on... Farmor showed a hat (pattern can be found here), and I really liked the decresing on top, so I've made one and casted on for a second. Perfect for the boys. I'm using 3.5mm needles, and Dale of Norway Heilo or Falk yarn, 2 balls/100grams/200meters, and the smallest size.

Jeg har jo strikka litt også...Farmor's viste ei lue, Jaques Costeau-lua, og jeg likte veldig godt fellinga i toppen, så nå er jeg ferdig med en og har lagt opp til den neste. Bruker Falk på den ene, og Heilo på den andre. Pinne nr. 3.5, og la opp 120 m. Det passa godt på midt hode, og jeg er tjukkere i huet enn sønnene..;-)
Another pair of Loksins! Can't remember which yarn I used, but it's a sock yarn, with 20-25% nylon in it. These will probably go into the giftbasket, becuse they are still not big enough for me! I'll have to add a few stitches to make it work, but I love the pattern, and it's really quick!


Og så nok at par av Loksins! Husker ikke hvilket garn, men sannsynligvis Silja eller Ida...ihvertfall noe nylonforsterka! Disse går i gaveskuffen, for de passer fortsatt ikke til meg! Jeg må legge opp litt flere masker til meg selv. Men fine er de, og morsomme å strikke!

This is just to try a pattern- should fit a newborn, but now I've forgotten where I found it:-( ,oh well, it was rather boring to knit. Knit in Babywool on 2.5 mm. I used tiny little woolvests like this one on my own kids all the time.

Dette var egentlig bare en prøve- men jeg husker jo ikke hvor jeg fant mønsteret! Passer nyfødt, og ikke så mye lenger. Babyull, 2.5mm, gørrkjedelig å strikke, men praktiske. Jeg brukte alltid sånne på mine da de var små- da holdt de ihvertfall varmen!

Mittens! Monstermønster posted a pattern for the first pair here- the ones with allover braids. In the green pair, I knit a cabled ribbing, and a tiny cable on the back, plus the Latvian braids, and the fair isle mittens with Squirrels is from Pinneguri. There's a braid on those too...The yarn is leftovers from my fishafghan, pure wool that will felt when used. All pairs are too small on me, so they probably go straight into the giftbasket...

Men så var det vottene da! Monstermønstervotter med latviske fletter først, så et par med flettevrangbord og latvisk flette og litt flette oppå hånda, og så et par med latvisk flette i vrangborden, og Pinneguris ekornmotiv. Litt herfra og litt derfra. Garnet er restegarn fra fisketeppet, ren ull som vil tove i bruk. Alle parene er for små til meg, så de går rett i gaveskuffen;-D

Ikke noe utsiktsbilde idag, selv om utsikta er flott! Jeg er ikke så veldig teknisk av meg, så jeg finner ikke ut hvordan jeg skal legge inn flere bilder etter at jeg har begynt å skrive, og ikke finner jeg ut hvordan bildene kan flyttes heller...jeg må legge inn alle bildene først- i rett rekkefølge (og ja, jeg har av og til måttet slette hele greia og begynne fra en annen kant!), og så skrive innimellom!

Started 3 years ago...but rather quick to knit once I started! Less than an hour per fish. And finished now because I need the leftover yarn for mittens:-)

Right now it's lying out on the porch, I've washed it, and just stretched it a little.

Jeg har vært på fisketur...og resultatet ble et ulteppe på 125x195 cm! Jeg har prøvd å finne mønsteret igjen på nettet, men det er helt borte, jeg finner mange ferdige tepper, men ikke mønsteret. Begynte på dette for tre år siden, så ble det lagt på vent...men nå trengte jeg garnet til votter! Så da var det best å få det ferdig. Det var moro når jeg først fikk begynt! Nå ligger det til tørk ute på verandaen, det fikk en tur i vaskemaskinen igårkveld.

My view a few days ago. The rainbow is to remind me of my next project...I've been asked to sew a christeningdress for a lottery! I have all the fabrics, and a plan inside my head...;-)

Utsikten for noen dager siden. Fint å ha regnbuen for å minne meg om neste prosjekt...jeg er blitt spurt om å sy en dåpskjole til en utlodning! Har stoffene klare, og en plan tar form inni hodet mitt...;-)

...using different kinds of needles...

We've had a few great sunsets lately- a lovely treat after the grey, wet, foggy days...summer has been lousy, but a sunset like this almost makes up for it...

Vi har hatt noen flotte solnedganger i det siste- et lite plaster på såret etter alt regnet og skodda som har hengt over oss hele sommeren! It hasn't been fun doing anything outside, although I've had to pick strawberries almost daily, and there has been a lot of spinach and lettuce too. The carrots are small and sweet, they need thinning, and the thinnings go into the salads we've eaten a lot of. DD1 loves salad- if there is anything left over from dinner, she'll eat it during the evening as a snack!

Det har ikke vært moro å gjøre noe utendørs, men jeg har vært nødt til å gå nedom kjøkkenhagen med jevne mellomrom! Har fått masse jordbær, og spinat og salat voker også bra. Gulrøttene er små og søte, de må tynnes, og da går de rett i salaten! #3 er veldig glad i salat, hvis det er noe igjen etter middagen, tar hun det til nattmat...

I got an SMS from my sister: Will you please knit me a pair of socks- my feet are cold! Preferably with door-to-door delivery...
So I knit her a pair of Cassie's Loksins! I've knit this pattern several times, and I love it! Quick, easy to memorize, and pretty. One day I'll manage to knit a pair for myself too, andnot only give them avay;-)

Jeg fikk en sms fra søsteren: Kan du være så snill å strikke et par sokker i aånn tynn ull til meg- jeg fryser på beina! Helst levert på døra...
Så jeg strikket et par Loksins! igjen, har brukt mønsteret flere ganger før, det er enkelt og pent, og moro å strikke! Kanskje kan jeg snart få strikket et par til meg selv også...

Can't remember what yarn it was,probably Senja, but it's knit using magic loop, two-at-a-time, on 2.5mm circulars.

Husker ikke hva slags garn det var, antagelig Senja, strikket som vanlig begge på en gang med magic loop på 2.5 mm rundpinne.

For some time now, I've had Anni's yarn Superwash Merino Sock Yarn lying on my shelf, I won it, and bought a couple extra skeins at the same time. It was too good to use for socks, but I haven't been able to find a suitable pattern before. There were two skeins, 200gr/800m in all, so not a whole lot. Colour: Bronze.

Finally found a pattern: Tappan Zee from Knitty, but in a completely differnet yarn...so I've knit this sock yarn on 4mm needles, size 42", and it fits! It is very light, but will work fine over a t-shirt or blouse.

Jeg har hatt Anni's garn Superwash Merino Sock Yarn liggende på hylla ganske lenge nå, jeg vant det i Sockamania-klubben engang, og kjøpte litt ekstra når jeg først skulle få tilsendt noe. Ren merino, og litt for godt til å bruke til sokker...men det har vært vanskelig å finne mønster som passet! Jeg hadde to bunter/200gr/800m totalt, i "bronze". Men så dukket Knitty opp, og "Tappan Zee", helt feil garn, men jeg strikket strømpegarnet med 4mm pinner, og den ble bra! Brukte opp alt garnet, det var såvidt nok til å sy i knappene!
Then hubby came home from China with some silk... I'd like to make this dress out of this red! I seldom wear dresses, but it would be nice to have one. Haven't even traced the pattern yet, but this is a Burda Plus- pattern.

Og så kom gubben hjem fra Kina med silke! Jeg har lyst til å sy en kjole i dette røde stoffet. Det er sjelden jeg bruker kjoler, men det hadde vært kjekt å ha en. Mønsteret er fra et BurdaPlus-blad.

But I've made a couple of little bags:-)
Terry showed a bag she'd made a little while ago, pattern can be found here! It's a really cute and quick lillte thing, with lots of pockets. I use my red one for knitting, and then I can carry along spare needles and both phones!

Oh, and notice my ironing board! I just bought a "new" one at a thrift store- it had never been used, but it's an old model- it is much wider and longer than my old one, really steady, and with an extra arm. Suddenly ironing was fun;-)

Men jeg har sydd etpar små vesker:-) Terry viste en på bloggen sin for litt siden. Lur og enkel å sy, med masse utvendige lommer. Den røde har jeg tatt sjøl, passer ypperlig til et lite strikketøy, og det er god plass til ekstrapinner og telefoner i sidelommene!

Sjekk strykebrettet også da! Jeg fant det på en bruktbutikk, det er helt ubrukt, men en gammel modell (og bakpå stod det en lapp om at man kunne ringe og bestille ekstra trekk til kroner 15,-...)Det er både bredere og lengre enn det jeg hadde fra før, skikkelig solid,med armbrett, og det kosta meg 150 kroner. Plutselig var det moro å stryke:-)

This is my sewingroombed...just before I started sewing! I've always loved sewing. I used to make dolls clothes, and clothes for myself. The kids was also always wearing homemade clothes. But then I lost the machine, and was without one for 5 years...I did borrow one from a friend, but it's different having your own:-)

Her er senga på syrommet... rett før jeg begynte å sy! Jeg har alltid vært glad i å sy. Pleide å lage dukkeklær, og sydde alltid klær både til meg selv og ungene. Men så forsvant maskinen, og det tok 5 år før jeg fikk ny...jeg har riktignok lånt en innimellom, men det blir ikke det samme.

Sooo, a few days having fun with the machine, resulted in:

A tunic and a blouse, both in some white/pink/purple silk hubby brought home from China.

A skirt. I seldom wear skirts this short, but I think I like this one!

A pair of trousers- they fit snugly around the hips, and have very wide legs- I've used the pattern before, and like it.

A jacket- very plain. There weren't enough left over fabrics to make pockets...I might still try to put in a pair of piped pockets .We'll see. Trousers and jacket is made of the same fabric, but matches the skirt.

Ihvertfall, noen dagers moro- ute regnet det jo likevel!- resulterte i:

Bluse og tunika, i hvit/rosa/lilla silke som gubben kom med fra Kina.

Et skjørt. Jeg bruker sjelden så korte skjørt, men tror jeg vil like dette.

Et par bukser. Ettersittende ved hofta, vide ben. Jeg har brukt mønsteret før, og liker det.

Ei jakke. Helt enkel. Hadde ikke engang nok stoff til å sy lommer...men jeg har fóret den. Det er mulig at jeg prøver å sette inn etpar passepoilerte lommer, men jeg vet ikke. Buksa og jakka er sydd av samme stoffet, men det passer godt sammen med skjørtet.

Off to see The Pink Robots! - a local popgroup, they live and practise in Bergen, but 3 out of 5 are from here. (and they played really well in the sunshine in the park! Fun!)

Nå har jeg nettopp vært i parken og sett på The Pink Robots, der 3 av 5 er fra Selje. De var årets Urørt! vinnere også. Idag spilte de i parken, til stor jubel!

This computer is sick. DD2's computer will not upload the pictures like I want to. She showed me how to do it: like this, and this , and this... I'll have to wait until she can do it;-)



I've been knitting! Started the Poppysocks, (Ravelrylink), Michaela had started on them, and I thought they looked fun. I'm using a blue variegated and a pink variegated, and the kids say I'm not allowed to use them unless they are hidden inside some boots;-D. I'm knitting both at the same time, magic loop, even bought some new needles, bamboo circular in 2.5 mm. I've tried fairisle two-at-a-time before, but got into such a tangle I almost had to cut the yarn. So I was not sure wheter I would be able to knit both. But so far: NO tangles! And it's a fun project! I'm done with the cuff, and half the leg, and only started it a couple of days ago.

I'm also trying to sew a little,made a tablecloth. It's not "lappeteknikk, det er lappverk" (It's not patchwork, it's patching...) But it was fun, and I made a drawstrinbag, perfect for sockknitting, of the leftovers... Pictures later, maybe...

I'm also knitting on my blue recycled sweater, the body is almost done, and I'm working on the sleeves. There are lots of cables! Maybe too many...

In Garnaflækja we're knitting Prinsateppid, and I think Berglind's version is lovely! Mine will have a bit of colour around the edges... I regret not knitting this as a triangular shawl...it would have been very easy to do so. But I'm not ripping now...

We woke up to SNOW this morning! The sun is out, and it's really cold. We were waiting for spring, so this was a bit unexpected.

The sheep are doing fine. We hope to move another 15-20 out during the weekend. We've been checking on them a couple of times a week, and they come running as soon as we start calling. I have lots of photos of them- if only this thing would upload!!!

Okay, time for another cup of tea, and then some outdoorwork, I guess.

Snow!

I'm not completely gone...

We've got the computer back, and I've spent some time trying to catch up on blogreading! It feels good to be back, but it has taken me some time to get back to writing. Right now I'm watching the sheep in the snow- they've got plenty of food, and they all have a heavy wool coat, so they are doing fine. Maybe I should bring the camera outside later?

The photo of the seahouse was taken a few days ago, but it looks almost the same today- a little brighter, and a little more snow today. We've got the sun back too(the hills behind our house makes the sun disappear for at least 6 to 8 weeks, I'm not quite sure how long, since we usually have lots of rain at this time of year! But it's finally back, and with it the need to wash the windows...) I did a lot of Christmasknitting, but think I have forgotten to take photo's... Then came January, and I finally figured out what I wanted to do with the yarn I got in

Andrea's giveaway, a loooong time ago! I got three balls of Katia Azteca yarn, a 50%wool/50%acrylic really soft yarn. It is now a vest. I started it at the shoulders, and knit the fronts down to the armholes, then I picked up from the shoulders, and cast on for the neck, and knit the back topdown to the same lengt as the front, joined and finished in the round. First adult project done top down, and I like the outcome. I did a k3,p1 ribbing for the body. It curls a bit, but not bad. And it's warm, and I like the colours:-) Oh, and I knit the ribbing around neck and armholes before finishing the body... A quick knit, on 5mm needles, and I like it. Thanks again for the yarn, Andrea!

I've been way behind on my Sockamania socks the last few months...so when January's challenge came along, it suited me well;-D "finish any pair you may have lying around, or a pattern you haven't knitted yet..." Sooo, DD2 got a pair of pink Elegance, DS2 a pair of grey Twisted ribs, and I got a pair of blue Celtic Cable Heel socks. Sorry about the blurry photo...

Yarn for all three pairs: Silja from Gjestal, actually one was called Senja, but it was a 80%wool/20%nylon yarn, which I like very well. It is durable, I've had socks for several years that still hasn't worn out (and I use these socks every day!) I'm certain there are sockyarns out there that are both softer and with better stitchdefinition, but Silja is perfect for me. It doesn't hurt that I get it at a reasonable price either...

DD2 is in bed with a fever, DD1 and DS2 are at school, Hubby is at work, and the sailing son is back in Stavanger after being to Trondheim last week with the
ship.

Finally back to normal-LOL! Both computers are working again, and I've catched up on my blogreading-so now I'd better write something myself! I tried to write a blogpost yesterday, but spent more than an hour trying to upload the pictures, and then the kids came home from school, so it was put on ice...


Where to start? Maybe with these little beauties? I got mail the other day... from Judy. I signed up for PIF with her a short time ago, and got these stitchmarkers (guess I uploaded the wrong picture, but here you see the cute little "cat"markers), and bamboo needles, straight in 8mm- just perfect! Thank you, Judy:-) PIF, you ask? Pay it forward. Well, I guess it's been around in the blogiverse for quite some time, but I'll still pass it on, the rules are as follows: I will pay it forward, and make something for three persons that say in the comments that they want to participate. I have a year- 365 days- to do this. So please, if you'd like to take part, tell me in the comments.

Do you remember the blue sweater from Feb.25, 2008 (couldn't figure out how to get the link...)? I had knitted it for my sister 20 years ago, but it was too big, too short and never used. I liked the colour though. So I ripped it, washed the yarn, and let it ripen on the shelf....I've started this sweater with it. The idea was to have a round yoke, but that didn't work out, so that piece ended up as a peplum instead:-D .There's a lot of cables on it, celtic cables and beehive pattern, even some hearts. I need to work on this when I'm alone, and now it's been put away for some time, so I can get some Christmasknitting done.

Tracy had a give-away on her blog some time ago, and I won two balls of Smart- here are the mittens I made from it! I used The Shetland Traders pattern for Crofter's cowl.

Here's a vest I made for our 4-yearold neighbour, a vest in Silja sockyarn from Gjestal (their webpage didn't work today...). Cables on both front and back. It needs blocking! DD2 wanted to knit a shawl "with holes in it and so on", but turned it over to me after a little while. She's working on another in limegreen, really easy, cast on 3 stitches, knit, turn, *slip 1st st.,m1, knit to end,turn* Do this on every round until you run out of yarn.

This one is knitted in Kitten Mohair, one ball, it's just big enough around the neck.

Did I tell you that I got some yarn quite some time ago?
Andrea had a give-away, and I was the lucky winner of this yarn, Katia Azteka, 3 balls/300gr/540m. I really like this colour. I'm thinking of knitting a top/vest of it- any suggestions? I'd like to try something top-down for a change. I've never done anything top-down, exept for a babysweater. Some of this was written yesterday, and some today, so it's very messy- sorry!

Oh well, you'll get the view...I was off looking for 4 sheep that had run off(not far- they were inside the fencing!), and the weather was good and we even had snow! I startled two deer- got a photo of one, but it's not a very good one, so I'm not uploading it.

We've been busy with the sheep too. Every year we slaughter a few of our sheep at home to make
pinnekjøtt and sausages , so I've been cutting and salting and stuffing ...the freezer is filled with good meat. It's nothing I have to do, but it's a tradition, and I think it's important to keep a few of the traditions.

We've had snow a couple of times, and the sheep are waiting for hay. I always feed extra during winter.

Yesterday I tried to make a little video- we have a small river next to our house, nad with the rain and wind we've had lately, it was growing big. And really noisy! We use to think that we live in a very quiet environment- and yes, we don't hear a lot of cars and citynoises- but it's loud enough!

Size: I knit the big size, and it's probably 2,30m across, and 1,15m from neck to tip...(it's blocking on a mattress that is 200cmx90cm)

I live on a farm) Very roomy, and my 13-yearold refuses to talk to me when I use it-LOL!

I needed another quick knit once that was done, so here's the beginning of Swallowtail lace shawl. Actually a very quick knit, but it turns out rather small, compared to the BeeFields it's TINY! Oh, well, it'll be a nice scarf for someone, it probably get's tossed in my giftbasket. Someone said Christmas is coming up soon...hmmm, already???? TodayI got my third teenager- DD1 turns 13! She's beeen acting 13 for a couple of years... She requested pizza and creamcake;-) No party tonight, or this weekend, she's off on a footballmatch early tomorrow. She's a happy, bright girl. Hubby's back in Houston for the rest of the month. He says the flight is boring. I keep telling him to learn how to knit! He's not too eager. Funny. He was home most of September, and had fun playing with this little toy...also picking potatoes...this year's harvest! Not so much ,but then we didn't plant so many. They turned out big, and very tasty. I'll save some for Christmasdinner, I think.
The sheep were sent to the slaughterhouse last week, the rest are still walking in the fields. The weather has turned, it's autumn, beautiful colours, lots of rain, long dark evenings. We get a fire going in the fireplace and cuddle up inside.

"Picking potatoes" wasn't the only thing hubby did on his September stay-at-home...see down by the seahouse? Looks pretty good, right? We have finally gotten the area outside cleared and safe. Took this photo only an hour ago, we can't even see across the fjord today:-(

The kid- the only one left that is not a teenager- is coming home from school now. With a friend. Better get some food on the table!
