...and then back to the knitting...

...but first a little glimpse of what it looked like last week...gray, foggy, magic...

...forrige uke...grått, disig,snø i lufta, og ganske magisk... ...and the monastery ... I went to check on the sheep, and they are doing well. A lot of the snow has disappeared here.

...then some knitting! Selbustrikk, to be precise... these mittens are #6. So far only done with one, but I'll start the second one later today. Selbustrikk is fun!
These are the Icelandic pattern:Jólagledi, knitted in Tove. 2.5mm needles. I lengtened it with one pattern, and I should have moved the thumb a little closer to the edge. Other than that I like the pattern and the outcome.
I guess I've told you...we have WINTER this year! We've had snow covering the ground for two months, it has rained only a couple of days during this period, and it's been cold! So, I made a set for myself: different patterns, but the yarn is the same! It's wool, fingering weight, but that's all I know about it, it came without a ballband...actually my mum came with 20 balls of it, she'd picked it up at a factory outlet.
The gloves: Loksins, originally a sockpattern, but very suitable for gloves too. Knit with 2.5mm circular needles, both at the same time.
The hat:Hermiones cable-and lace hat, this is one version I've seen, there are more, like this one on ravelry. Knit with 4mm needles, yarn doubled.
And finally, the scarf:Aestlight, this is probably my fourth? fifth?. Still love it though! Knit with 4mm needles.
..and then the stockings-LOL! Here are February's Victorian Valentine Socks from Sockamania. I've wanted stockings for some time, but not with the lace/ribbon detail...so I made mine with ribbing in the back, and a slightly different edging, knitted on, not sewn on.

...og endelig strømper! Hehe! Kjempegode!

Kitty seems to like them too:-)
Pusungen likte dem visst også;-)

We woke up to another gorgeous day...sunny, and just around freezingpoint. It will thaw a little during the day. The roads seems to be cleared of snow and ice too.
Our view to the south....

...and to the west...
...og mot vest....

I'll be watching the Olympics, but I haven't signed up for any of the knitting olympics or ravelympics- I'm sure I will be able to put in some knitting anyway;-)
Also:THANK YOU so much for all your nice comments on my last post. The kids were thrilled with the outcome, and they feel that they have accomplished something.
Have a great week!

How do you do it? You are THE fastest knitter! Amazing. I love the mittens. I started a tiny pair of traditional selbu mitts for a baby and yes, I thought they were fun, too. They're not done, but oh so fun. Maybe I'll pull those out for the Olympics.

Gorgeous pictures. I think I've said this before, but the scenery is so dramatic. Moody and romantic. I really enjoy your stories and pictures. and of course, the knitting...
(ps. I use my bag - the one you made - ALL the time. I bring it with me to the preschool I work at - it hold everything I need.)

I have non-knitting friends who are amazed at all of the knitting I get done. Yeah right, three weeks to knit a pair of mittens. They don't know about knitters like you! You do such beautiful work and get so much done! I loved all of your items this post. I've knit several pairs of loksin socks, but I want to try that pattern with gloves. It's such a pretty pattern.

We have had snow cover for months too. Nothing new around here for Winter.

All of your knitted pieces are just gorgeous. Nothing new about that either, eh? You always do the most lovely work.

Hope you are keeping warm. :)

Marit, your knitting is exquisite and artful. It's so obvious -- you knit with feeling. And thank you for sharing the beauty and splendor of your country.

Love the knits! I want to knit the Hermione hat (cute!). Love the beautiful scenery! I'm happy that you've had a real winter :). I hope the pipe freezing problems are all sorted.

Fine votter - selbuvotter eller ikke :-)

I'm just so jealous of that view! Look forward to seeing photos of it in the summer.
Cat obviously likes your knitting too ;-) I've got Aestlight in my queue, but I have far too many things I want to make and far too little time!

Hi there! I have seen you comment on my blog and today I had some time to track you down. First I just love the pics of the snow and mountains - just gorgeous. Then there is your knitting - I don't know what would be my favorite pattern. I have been looking at shawl patterns lately - getting the itch to make a lace one - I'm going to get on ravelry tonight to see if I can find that pattern. Have a good week.

Beautiful knitting Marit. Love the white mittens especially- such a pretty design.

The stockings are amazing. One day I will make a non stockign stitch pair of socks. :-)

Nydelige bilder.

How lovely to stumble on to your blog. i am so amazed at how much the scenery looks like Newfoundland. I have a friend whose blog I'm sure you would enjoy. It's called Island Sweet. Are you familiar with Etsy an online shop for crafts people.
I'll keep coming back.

Love your knits and I love the idea of having sheeps and loving to knit :)
I love the mittens with the trees, I'm always planning on knitting them for my kids but... so little time and so much to knit and quilt!
