Guardian angel...

We got a bit of a scare yesterday. The schoolbus is normally here around 2:20pm, but it was running late. None of my kids were at school- they are all in bed with fever, coughs, and vomiting. Great fun, believe me...
Anyway, DD2 got a call from one of her friends. She told her about an accident- a 7-yearold who got off the bus, and got hit by a car when crossing the road. My heart sank, knowing that this little girl was my goddaughter, the daughter of some of our best friends. I found my binoculars and went to the window. I can see across the fjord to where the accident happened. My goddaughter-TM- is in first grade. She'll turn 7 in a month. She is very cute, and very bright (I'm not biased here...). Her mother-M- is one of my best friends. She is also working at the ambulance, and she was on duty... I watched the ambulance with the lights on, then came the helicopter. I sent M an SMS, just to tell her that I was thinking of them and praying that everything would work out fine. A little later, I spoke to TM's father, and he told me that they were transferred to the hospital. Not the nearest hospital- oh no- the hospital that has a children's ward, and is 3 hours from us...She didn't seem to be seriously hurt though.

Later that night I got an SMS from M- "She's doing fine- it is apparently only a concussion, but we are waiting for more scans. She must have had a guardian angel!"
This morning the message was: "We're coming home today, only a concussion, no broken bones or other injuries that they could see now. She slept like a log, and was happy at breakfast because she got Nugatti(Chocolatestuff) on her bread;-)"

She is home, and she is doing fine. She must have had a guardian angel!

Soooo- I made her a bag, of a pair of old jeans, a piece of cottonfabric, a piece of linen, and some odds and ends of fabrics... A little angel, her glory being slightly off, half broken perhaps, but she has a happy face nevertheless. A bag in her hand, and flowery wings. And of course a pink dress. Pink is important at the age of 7 (almost 7...)

I hope to see her tomorrow...just to give her mom a hug, and sigh with relief.
Take care:-)

What an adorable friend you are to make that for her. Again, I'm so happy that she is doing so well. What a relief! She deserves Nugatti on her bread for a week ;).

Yes, your little goddaughter must have had a few guardian angels busy for a while....so grateful she is going to be okay. She has a very thoughtful and caring godmother, too!
Enjoy your "happy welcome home" time.

Oh, thank goodness for guardian angels! I'm so glad she's OK...injuries are never good, but it just wounds my heart when children get hurt. :(

The bag is ADORABLE. What a wonderful godmother you are!

Miracles do happen. I can't tell you how emotional that story was to read, Marit. I am so happy for that family and all the friends who must have been beside themselves with fear that she wasn't ok.

Thank God!

My heart just sank as I was reading your post, though I am so relieved to hear that the prognosis looks excellent right now. The buses in our area have a stop sign on the side of them which swings out when they stop to pick up or drop off kids. By law, cars are supposed to *NOT* drive by the bus when it is stopped and letting kids get on or off...though can you believe that some cars still do drive by?!! When they do, the bus driver honks the horn really loudly, and I say good for him!

I love the bag, by the way! Awesome idea! Where do you come up with all of your creative ideas?

It must be that time of the month or something, because I shed a couple of tears for your little goddaughter and her ultimately happy story. what a wonderful and darling gift for you to make....and so quickly. I would have "thought" about making something....and then weeks later still be working on it.

Nice to have you back!

That's a wonderful story - not that she got knocked down, but that she is ok. Thank goodness for that. Your bag is cute, I'm sure she'll love it. x

Oh dear, I am so sorry this happened to your Goddaughter, but so very relieved to hear the good news of it being no more than a concussion. Still, a shame it had to happen at all, but such a lucky little girl. Your little bag will be a treasured gift, I am sure. That is so thoughtful and caring of you. :)

Det er godt å høre at det gikk bra når noe så dramatisk først skjedde. Hun vil helt sikkert sette pris på veska :-)

Oh Marit how scarey! I am so relieved that she is fine. I was first hit by a car when I was 7 too. I bounced and like your God daughter was fine.

The bag is a wonderful gift for her. The best angels are the imperfect ones- they are more approachable. :-)

I hope your children are getting better.
